Your Algarve hiking adventure begins with a transfer from Faro Airport to Lagos, a coastal town in the western Algarve, which takes about 1 hour.

Upon arrival, check in at Hotel Dom Manuel I, your charming accommodation for the night. Later, attend a 45-minute welcome briefing, where our local representative will walk you through the itinerary, safety notes, hiking tips, and regional highlights.

The rest of the day is yours to explore Lagos at your own pace. Wander through the old town, admire 16th-century walls, or enjoy a coffee by the marina. Lagos offers a beautiful mix of history, beaches, and Portuguese culture. If you are up for it, visit the nearby beach or try a fresh seafood meal to kickstart your adventure. The mood is relaxed, the air smells of the ocean, and your hiking journey is just beginning.

Begin your hiking journey in the historic center of Lagos ,where narrow cobbled streets lead you toward the coast. Soon, you’ll reach Ponta da Piedade, one of the Algarve’s most breathtaking natural landmarks, known for its limestone cliffs, sea arches, and grottoes sculpted by wind and waves. The ocean views here are stunning, and the cliffs are home to bird species like Iberian Magpies and Red-rumped Swallows.

Follow the cliffside trail with several panoramic viewpoints as you walk toward Praia da Luz, a peaceful beachside village. The day’s route is 12 km with a 200-meter elevation gain, making it a scenic and comfortable hike. Once you reach Luz, take time to relax on the golden beach or wander through the village’s charming streets and cafés.

Check in at Hotel Belavista da Luz, a comfortable retreat with coastal views, and rest up for the next day’s adventure.

Leave Praia da Luz and follow the scenic trail toward Salema, covering 13 km with a 200-meter elevation gain. You will pass the Roman bath ruins, a fascinating archaeological site dating back to the 3rd to 5th centuries. The trail continues with gentle ups and downs along the clifftops, offering stunning views of the Atlantic.

Along the route, you’ll come across small fishing villages and abandoned fortresses, silent reminders of the coast’s historic battles with pirates. As you near Salema, the path winds through warm-toned cliffs and quiet coves. Salema is a charming fishing village nestled in a tranquil bay, known for its relaxed atmosphere and traditional boats still in use today.

After arriving, enjoy some local seafood or simply unwind by the sea. Check in at Hotel Villamar, where you’ll spend the next two nights.

Elevation Gain: +200 m

Start the day with a 15-minute transfer to São João, the trailhead for today’s inland exploration. You can choose between a 17 km long route or a 9 km shorter option, both offering a scenic look at Algarve’s countryside. The trail leads through stone pinewood and traditional villages with unique chimney designs and peaceful rural charm.

If you prefer to rest, skip the hike and spend the day at Salema’s beach, soaking up the sun or enjoying the gentle waves. Either way, today gives you the flexibility to explore or relax at your own pace. In the evening, return to Hotel Villamar for another cozy night.

Today’s trail is one of the most scenic of the trip, taking you to Sagres via the dramatic coastline. Choose between the 17 km full route from Salema or the 11 km short option after a 15-minute transfer to Zavial. The trail follows the South Fisherman’s Trail, with panoramic views over cliffs and secluded beaches.

This is the most physically demanding day but also one of the most stunning, with untouched landscapes and powerful ocean views. The coastal path feels wild and remote, ideal for photography and reflection. As you arrive in Sagres, you’ll sense the peaceful and rugged character of the town.

Optional Service: Transfer to Zavial for short route

Elevation Gain: +400 m | +200 m

Begin with a 10-minute transfer to Cape São Vicente, the southwestern most tip of Continental Europe. Once believed to be the edge of the world, it’s known for its towering cliffs, powerful lighthouse, and historic significance. The hike back to Sagres is about 15 km with a 200-meter elevation gain, following a scenic cliffside trail.

Enjoy dramatic ocean views, wild rock formations, and quiet hidden beaches along the way. The path is well-marked and peaceful, offering great photo spots and a feeling of complete escape. End your day in Sagres, maybe catching the sunset over the sea

After breakfast, your transfer to Faro (approx. 1.5 hours) will be arranged based on your schedule. If you wish, you can extend your stay in Sagres or add another day of hiking. Otherwise, your Algarve adventure comes to a beautiful close, filled with memories of cliffs, coast, and calm.
