Day 2: Marstrand

After breakfast, travel by local bus for about an hour from Gothenburg to the charming island destination of Marstrand. The town spreads across the islands of Marstrand and Koön, connected by a short ferry ride just outside your hotel. Begin with a scenic coastal walk around Marstrand, enjoying views of the harbor and surrounding sea.

You will also have time to explore the village and visit the impressive Carlstens Fortress. Later, return by ferry to Koön and continue along a pleasant trail over granite rock, stairs, and wooden footbridges before settling into your seaside accommodation.

Day 3: Marstrand

Today you travel by bus or car to the nearby ferry for a scenic 30 minute crossing to the picturesque island of Dyrön. This peaceful island is known for its rugged terrain, small beaches, and quiet natural atmosphere. Along the path you may encounter mouflon sheep grazing among the rocky landscape.

The trail, built by locals known as the “blue men,” leads across granite rocks, forest sections, and stone steps. A highlight of the day is the panoramic outlook points along the coast. After the walk, return to your accommodation on Marstrand.

Day 4: Smögen

Following breakfast, transfer north along the coast for about 1 hour and 40 minutes to the dramatic landscape of Ramsvik Nature Reserve. The trail leads through open landscapes with expansive views across the sea and surrounding islands.

As you walk, the atmosphere shifts between quiet nature and striking coastal scenery. After completing the hike, take a short local bus ride to the lively fishing village of Smögen. In the evening you can stroll along the famous Smögenbryggan lined with restaurants, cafés, shops, and boats.

The first option leads to Bohus Malmön, known for its historic granite industry and scenic coastal landscapes.

The second route begins in Kungshamn and follows a trail through forests and small coastal villages before returning by bus from Tullboden. Both routes offer varied scenery that reflects the region’s maritime heritage.

The walk continues into the nearby Änggårdsbergen Nature Reserve, where forest trails create a tranquil contrast to the city environment. The recommended route forms a pleasant loop through the reserve, though several trails allow for optional detours.

Your tour begins in Gothenburg, the gateway to Sweden’s west coast. The nearest airport is Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT), located about 20 km from the city center. After landing, you can take the Airport Bus (Flygbussarna) directly to Gothenburg Central Station, which takes around 25–30 minutes. Taxis are also available outside the arrivals area and offer a convenient transfer to hotels in central Gothenburg.

Travelers arriving from other Scandinavian cities can also reach Gothenburg easily by train, as the city is well connected to major rail routes across Sweden and Denmark.

DEPARTURE

Your tour concludes in Gothenburg after breakfast on the final day. From your hotel in the city center, you can travel to Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) by airport bus or taxi. The airport bus departs frequently from Gothenburg Central Station and the journey takes about 25–30 minutes.

Taxis can also be arranged from your hotel for a direct and comfortable transfer to the airport. Gothenburg Central Station additionally offers convenient rail connections for travelers continuing their journey to cities such as Stockholm or Copenhagen.
